Gynecomastia Big Breast Problem in Men
Gynecomastia is a male breast that grows and looks like a female breast. It consists of a combination of the word "gyne" which means woman in the old Greek language and the words “mastos" which means breast. Gynecomastia is a problem observed in almost half of the male population. Because it feminises the bodies of men, it affects their mental state in a negative way, causing discomfort especially in summer months.
Gynecomastia can occur for no reason, as a result of some hormonal disorders or as a side effect of some drugs. First, the cause of gynecomastia should be understood. If the patient is thought to have hormone disorder, it is first evaluated by an Endocrinologist. Hormone tests are performed. If there is a disorder, treatment is provided. Gynecomastia occurs during adolescence is usually enough to wait. Most of them recover within a few years. Other gynecomastia can be corrected by surgical procedures.
It is possible to obtain adequate results with liposuction alone in the majority of patients with gynecomastia. Laser lipolysis can be used in patients with excess and dense breast tissue. In cases where this is not sufficient, excess breast tissue is removed by a short incision around the nipple. In patients with excess skin and sagging nipple, the scar is removed around the nipple.
Gynecomastia surgery is performed under general anesthesia and in the operating room environment. The operation takes 1-2 hours depending on the procedure. Discharge is made on the same day according to the patient's condition. Special corset is used for 1 month.
