Op.Dr. Ömer Ekin - Aesthetic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon
As the age progresses, soft tissue loss occurs especially in the middle face. One way to replace this tissue loss is by filling applications. Adipose tissue or ready-made fillers from the person's own body can be used for filling. In particular, if the application is to be done in limited areas, ready-made fillings are preferred because they are practical and painless and can be applied quickly in the practice environment.
There is a wide range of materials among the filling materials. The most commonly used fillers are en hyaluronic acid ”(Juvéderm, Restylane, Teosyal). Hyaluronic acid is one of the proteins that make up the connective tissue between the cells in the human body. Retention times vary from 6 months to 2 years.
It can be applied to the following areas in the face area:
- Goose legs,
- Fine lines such as vertical lines on the lips,
- Nose-lip lines,
- Marionette lines going down the lip corners,
- Frown lines between the eyebrows,
- Lip shaping,
- Sharpening the cheekbones, chin enlarging
Filling operations are simple, short and controlled attempts. They are performed in the practice environment. They do not interfere with the daily life of patients because they do not cause excessive swelling. If the procedure is not liked by the patient, it is advantageous that they are temporary. Like any foreign body, hyaluronic acid fillings are at risk, but they are much less at risk than other substances. This risk can be minimized by choosing trusted brands. In deep fillings and lips, the procedure is performed under local anesthesia. Some of the newly developed filling products include drugs that numb the skin and their application is less painful. Rarely, there may be bruises. Allergic reactions to hyaluronic acid are rare, but there are risks such as foreign body reaction and infection. However, the right practices and the use of reliable brands minimize these risks. Filling applications, like all other aesthetic procedures, should be done without exaggeration and should not lead to unnatural appearance.
